Las Vegas Shopping and Retail Stores
Desert Passage at the Aladdin 3667 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, 89109 (702) 866-0710 The Desert Passage is the jewel in the crown of Las Vegas shopping. With more than 140 stores and a dozen restaurants, the mall has something for every taste and every price range. Desert Passage is not merely a shopping center, but a retail "story" that follows the ancient Mediterranean spice routes. And the flavor of the Mediterranean is captured in the ambience of the open-air market and in the rich turquoise, copper and pink tones coloring the mall itself. The journey begins with the fabulous home decor store, Z Gallerie, which has a wonderful selection of artwork and furnishings at reasonable prices. Be sure to get on its mailing list. (Park on the third floor of the parking structure and you'll hit it straight on when you enter the mall.) Another Vegas first, Sur La Table, is a high-fashion housewares shop with beautiful dishes, towels and bric-a-brac. At the adorable Build-A-Bear Workshop, children young and old can design their own teddy bears, selecting bear type, stuffing and accessories. The shops are divided into four distinct sections. The first of these is the Lost City, where dome-shaped buildings converge into a public market complete with a fountain and 85-foot-high tower. Activity bustles in the market, where shopkeepers offer beautiful handmade pottery, dishes and other tableware, and a variety of spices and other food items. A Moorish arch announces your entrance into Morocco Gate, the mall portion of Desert Passage. Here you'll find, for example, Gap, Bath & Body Works, Origins and a large Victoria's Secret with adjacent Victoria's Secret Beauty store. If you're a fan of bebe, don't miss the bebe Sport store, the largest of its kind in Vegas. Women will also love the large Sephora shop, which offers just about every kind of make-up, perfume and skin care product imaginable. The next junction presents many an option. Shoppers may turn down India Gate and exit to the Strip; travel a bit farther to the right and make their way into the casino; go left toward the Theatre for the Performing Arts; or venture forward to Merchant's Harbor, where a 155-foot-long ship is docked. This is a wonderful place to meet your party should you get lost. Don't stand too close to the water, however, or you'll get caught in the rain "storm" that brews every half-hour. Those with a shoe habit should stop into Wild Pair, which carries brands like Steve Madden, Puma, Diesel and Baby Phat. If all of the shopping just isn't enough, check out the large stage outside the V Theatre. Contortionists, jugglers, musicians and acrobats entertain the crowds hourly from 1:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Friday through Monday. Stripper 101 classes are also offered at the V Theatre. What better place than Sin City to master the art of striptease? Desert Passage also offers exciting nightlife with the Krave alternative nightclub or the more tame, but full-of-fun Blondie's Sports Bar & Grill.
Fashion Show 3200 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 369-8382 The Las Vegas Strip now boasts another wonder of the shopping world. The Fashion Show mall has expanded to nearly 2 million square feet, making it the largest shopping destination on the Strip, attracting more than 10 million visitors annually. The mall is modern and bright, with wide aisles and plenty of seating to make shopping a relaxing experience. Saks, Macy's, Dillard's and Robinson's May are roomy and inviting, and even when there's an overflow of shoppers, it's easy to make your way through. A giant, three-level Nordstrom and a Bloomingdale's Home are classy places to shop -- you won't be able to resist stopping in, even if your funds are running low (you can find beautiful items that are steals, however, such as picture frames, vases and the like). Neiman Marcus rounds out the beautifully-appointed department stores. Along with the department stores, there are more than 200 boutique and chain shops. The expansion saw many of Fashion Show's best stores survive -- such as the adorable Coco's Gifts -- and added a number of cool shops, such as an Apple computer store, the trendy Cinnamon Girl (women's clothing), local clothing favorite Talulah G, a Williams-Sonoma, a great variety of shoe stores and a wonderful Z Gallerie. Shoppers who work up an appetite can stop by a new 11,288-square-foot food court with the likes of Haagen Dazs, Chinese Gourmet Express and New York Pretzel restaurants. There is an outdoor balcony overlooking the Strip and the mall's large plaza below -- an ideal place to stop and eat. The Fashion Show mall also features the Great Hall, a multimillion dollar event area that features an 80-foot retractable runway -- making it possible to have fashion shows at Fashion Show. There are house fashion shows, several days a week. One of the mall's most unique features is a large multimedia cloud outside the Strip entrance, making it possible for passersby to see what's going on inside. The cloud will be lighted nightly and combined with four moving video screens known as the Media Curve to broadcast special events occuring inside. Fashion Show's face-lift is exciting. Vegas shopping has never been bigger or better.

Here you'll find everything from famous designers such as Ann Taylor, Hugo Boss and Bernini to popular favorites Diesel, Guess and Banana Republic. What sets the Forum Shops apart, however, is its specialty shops. Lalique offers gorgeous crystal bowls, vases and platters. Although expensive, the pieces are stunning. The rhinestone-studded shoes at Stuart Weitzman, with handbags to match, are the perfect complement to the most elegant evening wear. Estee Lauder's gold compacts, porcelain boxes and trinkets are relatively inexpensive and make nice gift items. And be sure to check out Brighton Collectibles and Louis Vuitton. If you're an automobile fan, stop in Exotic Cars - a two-tiered retailer with 34,000 square feet of showroom space. The store houses more than 50 exotic cars and motorcycles with brands including Porsche, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin. Check out the remote-controlled racetrack, unique displays and a variety of merchandise including apparel, posters and model cars. With hundreds of stores, restaurants and attractions, there's plenty to keep you busy for an afternoon. Weary shoppers can rest their feet and watch the statues "talk" at the Atlantis fountain show. People-watchers will get an eyeful at Planet Hollywood, although the mall itself abounds with the rich and the beautiful. Stop for dessert at The Cheesecake Factory -- a sweet tooth's dream. It's also a great place to stop for lunch, although you should be prepared for a wait if you're there during lunchtime. For a sophisticated evening out, check out Wolfgang Puck's Club OPM , located above his restaurant, Chinois. When entering the shops from the parking garage, you'll have to walk through only a small portion of the casino. If you're coming from the Strip, head through the new pedestrian plaza, which creates an impressive entrance into the Forum Shops' expansion. Inside the doors, visitors are greeted by a large reflecting pool, huge Roman statues and a beautiful glass domed ceiling. The 175,000-square-foot, three-level addition includes an array of upscale shops and several new restaurants, as well as a spiral escalator -- one of only two in the United States. The new shops are easy to navigate -- you can basically walk around in a square on each level and see everything. You'll find plenty of stores here that you won't find back home. Stop in and admire the Baccarat crystal. It's an easy shop to find -- just look for the chandelier outside. The Forum Shops has a Versace clothing store, and the expansion also houses a Versace Home Collection shop, which offers the designer's other products such as rugs and dishware. A large Anthropologie store offers unique women's clothing as well as home decor, bath products and pet accessories. Harry Winston, Kiehl's, Kate Spade, Pucci, Juicy Couture and Celine also are among the more than 50 new stores to open. Restaurants in the expansion include Il Mulino New York and Sushi Roku. For dessert, stop in Vosges Haut-Chocolat for some gourmet treats. Shoppers also should check out the Appian Way shops, located in an arcade as you walk to Caesars' front desk. The Appian Way houses 15 upscale shops, including the classy Bernini Couture. Check out the Celine Dion and Elton John stores. If you're looking for funky Elton John-style sunglasses, this is the place to go. |
Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian 3377 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 414-4500 (888) 283-6423 With a painted fresco overhead, spacious walkways and a gondola-laden canal, the Venetian provides the perfect ambience for shopping. Using the canal as a guide, patrons sweep along twists and turns, with plenty to browse along the journey. The strolling juggler and the opera trio, dressed in regal opulence, keep all entertained. And the human statue stationed in St. Mark's Square's and the Oculus provides plenty of amusement. You almost can hear the birds chirping (or is it the violinists?) as you walk among the detailed façades and street lamps, popping in and out of shops. The walkways converge in the simulated open-air St. Mark's square, where vendors offer Venetian glass figurines, trinket boxes and other souvenirs on their carts. Mosey around the spacious marketplace in search of treasures -- modest glass-blown figurines can be found for approximately $20. Masks, pens and other baubles also are abundant. And, of course, there's plenty of Venetian-logo merchandise for those who want to take home a more-direct reminder. This is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll -- even if you just want to window-shop, no one will bother you. Shopkeepers are attentive and courteous but don't hover over your shoulder. The specialty stores are what make the Grand Canal Shoppes special. The Venetian glass found here is exquisite; don't miss Ripa de Monti for the best selection of hand-blown fish, dolphins and other aquatic life. Next door, at Il Prato, you'll find masks, marionettes and fine papers, as well as ornate frames, mirrors and delicate accoutrements for creating a personalized wax seal. This is one selection you'll want to buy out. The Regis Galerie boasts fine bronze pieces and Faberge eggs. But look behind you before you turn! The merchandise at the Grand Canal Shoppes is top-notch, and entertainment options abound for those who want to amplify their shopping experience. The Gondola Ride , the Venetian's most popular attraction, is located in St. Mark's Square. Modeled after Venetian gondolas, the ride takes passengers on a half-mile journey through the heart of the shopping center or outside the resort, giving them a chance to see the sights. And Madame Tussauds Las Vegas (a wax museum) is always a good bet. The layout of the shopping area allows patrons to navigate with ease. Beginning at the parking structure, enter the shops at Level 3, at the food court. Take a right and follow the canal to St. Mark's Square, cross to the other side, and you'll arrive at the Great Hall. From here, you can return to the garage and catch the stores you missed, take the escalators down to the casino, or exit to the Strip. Those coming from the Strip should enter at the Grand Canal Shoppes, adjacent to Madame Tussauds, walk to the right, cross over at St. Mark's Square and then return on the left.
Hawaiian Marketplace 3743 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 795-2247 The 80,000-square-foot Hawaiian Marketplace brings a taste of island-style shopping to Vegas. Modeled after the International Marketplace in Honolulu, the outdoor shopping center features lush tropical plants and bright colors. The market is made up of several stand-alone cart vendors surrounding nine anchor stores that offer a variety of clothing, gifts and souvenirs. The market is covered by an awning, which helps to keep things a bit cooler. Hawaiian Marketplace offers plenty of food choices for hungry shoppers, including Hamada and China Star Buffet. Cafe Capri features outdoor tables with seating along the Strip, and the adjacent Lava Lounge is a refreshing place to enjoy a cocktail. Shopping isn't the only thing to do at the marketplace -- be sure to check out the special animatronic birds that sing, dance and tell Hawaiian folklore tales once each hour. If you're driving, there is a small parking lot next door to the shopping center. If you're looking for more parking, try the Polo Towers public parking lot or better yet, valet park at the Polo Towers' side entrance and you'll be just steps away from the stores. Vegas may be a long way from Hawaii, but the Hawaiian Marketplace helps bring the atmosphere of the tropics to the desert.
Las Vegas Outlet Center 7400 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89123 (702) 896-5599 If it's bargains on shoes or housewares you're looking for, Las Vegas Outlet Center is where you'll find them. The outlet mall has 11 stores devoted exclusively to the home. Look to Corning-Revere for big discounts on Pyrex stock ($1-$10), casserole dishes, skillets, custard bowls -- the list goes on and on. This is a great place to go when you're looking for a specific piece; first-time visitors may feel a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume. And Famous Brands Housewares has nice discounts on kitchen implements and also sells artwork, adorable teapots and cookie jars. For shoes, the clearance racks are a gold mine at Naturalizer. Vans Shoes also has a great sneaker selection. And don't miss Reebok's deals on apparel, accessories, jackets and, of course, tennis shoes. Make sure you get over to the shopping annex located at the south end of the outlet center, near Reebok, for the Nine West outlet, which offers the latest styles (many long before you see them in other stores) at great prices. Look through the clearance racks for steals at up to 60 percent off the lowest marked price. Off 5th, the Saks Fifth Avenue outlet, also is located in the shopping annex and has a great selection of housewares, shoes and clothing. Check out the clothing clearance at the back of the store for additional savings. The easiest entry point is at Warm Springs Road and Las Vegas Boulevard. Although you should hit the shopping annex on the other side first, Warm Springs has a traffic light, which makes it easier to turn in. You don't want to miss the stores in the annex (Off 5th, Nine West), so stop there first; you'll be too tired for the mall if you save it for last. Enter the mall at the Reebok entrance, closest to the annex. The mall is easy to navigate, if you can make it all the way through, and the two food courts at either end offer sustenance to weary shoppers. The carousel located near the blue food court gives patrons a chance to get off their feet for a moment. The only drawback to the mall is its layout. Trudging back to the entrance with all your packages may seem a chore, but think of all the money you're saving! Be sure, however, to wear -- or buy -- a comfortable pair of shoes.
Le Boulevard at Paris 3645 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 739-4111 (888) 266-5687 Le Boulevard is tres European. From the brass lamps to the cobblestone "streets" to the small, intimate boutiques, Paris is alive and well in Las Vegas. Make your way straight down the middle of the casino (or straight ahead if you parked in the parking garage) and you'll hit Le Boulevard, the shopper's main drag, where the majority of stores and restaurants reside (if only it were this easy in France). Les Memories offers intricately designed clocks, frames and other bric-a-brac; Les Elements, throw pillows and china. The charming Les Enfants offers children's hats, clothing and a precious selection of Madeline merchandise. No boulevard would be complete without a good patisserie, and Le Boulevard has two: Lenôtre and JJ's Boulangerie. Try the schuss aux fraises (light cream and strawberries) at Lenôtre; it's divine. The shop also sells a complete line of kitchen implements and cookbooks. JJ's Boulangerie is a great place for a sandwich, and since it's also a working bakery, you can sit in on the preparation. And La Creperie, the creperie stand adjacent to JJ's, will satisfy all tastes, from the sweet tooth to the seafood lover. Le Boulevard is conveniently located in the back of the hotel-casino, near the parking garage and the convention center, which means you don't have to walk through the casino if you want only to shop. First-time visitors, however, should walk through to get the full effect -- the legs of the Eiffel Tower protrude onto the casino floor. Take a ride to the top if you're not acrophobic. Check out the lobby, which replicates the Palace of Versailles, with its ornate crystal chandeliers and plush circular seats. Magnifique!
Mandalay Place At Mandalay Bay 3950 S. Las Vegas Blvd.<BR> Las Vegas, NV (702) 632-7777 (877) 632-7800 Mandalay Place features world-class designers, retailers and restaurateurs in a unique setting. The 100,000-square-foot retail center is located on a sky bridge between Mandalay Bay and Luxor and offers 41 shops and restaurants, many of which are new to Las Vegas. Some of the stores located at Mandalay Place include Urban Outfitters, Lik Design, GF Ferré, Fornarina, Cream, Chocolate Swan, Davidoff, the first-ever Nike Golf store, Oilily (a children's clothing store from Holland), Peter Lik Gallery, Samantha Chang, Sauvage swimwear boutique and more. One must-see is LUSH PUPPY, heaven on earth for both you and your furry friend. A chic specialty boutique, LUSH PUPPY offers everything Fido could ever want, including beds, toys, doggie spa products and even doggie fortune cookies. Don't miss 55 Degrees Wine + Design, from the same team that operates the wine tower at Aureole restaurant. Interactive tablet PCs enable customers to select wines. The shop features a comprehensive wine selection and a tasting bar offering wine by the glass. If you're a bookworm, check out The Reading Room, a unique independent bookstore that has a special section devoted to limited editions. Shoppers can access Mandalay Place from Mandalay Bay, the Luxor or from a new valet parking area that allows customers to enter mid-way through the center beneath a grand circular skylight.
Showcase Mall 3785 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 597-3122 Just a hop, skip and a jump from the MGM Grand, the Showcase Mall entertainment and retail complex combines great shopping, good eating (M & M's World, Ethel M) and fun and games (United Artists, GameWorks). The multilevel mall is very family-friendly, and its proximity to MGM, Monte Carlo, New York-New York and their south-Strip neighbors make it a tourist's dream. The main attraction here is the delicious M & M's World, which offers plenty of chocolate-themed fun. Various props throughout the store feature Red, Yellow, Blue and their counterparts hawking T-shirts, ties, calculators, magnets ... you name it. The "I Lost My M in Las Vegas," a 3-D featurette, plays on the third floor with a free admission to the M & M Academy (Here, students are led into a classroom by a wacky professor and have the chance to be part of the movie). And don't forget the chocolate -- you'll find a rainbow of colors at the first floor's Colorworks. If video games are your bag, try the multimillion-dollar Gameworks, located in the basement of the mall. Developers Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks SKG, Sega Enterprises and Universal Studios teamed up to create multisensory games based on Jurassic Park, Star Wars and Twister, in addition to old-fashioned pinball machines and Pac-Man. Sports-minded folks will get an audience while trying the 75-foot rock-climbing wall that begins in GameWorks and makes its way into the mall's center. The World of Coca-Cola is devoted to the joy of cola. With signs and slogans, a history of the soft drink and colorful murals adorning the walls, the World of Coca-Cola carries thousands of items, including souvenir bottles, home accessories and clothing. The second floor houses a café that serves various flavors of the syrupy concoction. The other major retailer in the mall is adidas, which offers its first Performance Center in the United States. The 19,719-square-foot, two-story store features a plethora of apparel, footwear and accessories for every sport imaginable for both men and women. The adidas store is minimalist in design -- all the walls and furniture are black or white, and the in-store signage is through text tickers, video and interactive screens. Also located in the mall are the Grand Canyon Experience, which offers a wide assortment of gift items and sundries, a Houdini Magic Shop and the United Artists Cinema, the only first-run movie theater on the Strip. If chocolate and Coca-Cola don't satisfy your cravings, the Showcase Mall has a La Salsa restaurant and a food court featuring everything from Starbucks to Wendy's. You also can stop in to the Internet cafe near the food court to check your e-mail. It's open 24 hours and charges 17 cents per minute. If driving, you'll want to park in the mall's parking structure; it costs $3 and, the easiest access is on the fifth floor, where the pedestrian bridge crosses into the mall.
Via Bellagio 3600 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 Via Bellagio, the shopping arcade at the Bellagio hotel-casino, is luxury at its finest. To call it expensive would be an understatement -- you could plunk down a year's salary in less than an hour, no matter what you make. But if you're looking to do some high-end shopping (or just observe it), the Bellagio is the place to go. Nevada's only Tiffany & Co. is a standout. The jewelry is nothing less than exquisite (if you can afford it), and the shop's nature collection boasts diamond-encrusted fish, sea horses, crabs, etc. (A 4.4-carat diamond turtle pin goes for about $15,000.) But if you're looking to spend a little less, Tiffany's has some reasonable crystal pieces for less than $50, such as beer mugs and bowls. Tiffany & Co. also features the designs of Elsa Peretti, with fashionable pens that cost no more than their equivalent elsewhere (unless purchased in 18-carat gold), sterling silver baby accessories, frames and paperweights. Designer Paloma Picasso's jewelry also is featured. Hermes is the perfect stop if you're looking for finely made silk scarves, ties and suits. Chanel has a great handbag collection. Moschino, Giorgio Armani and Prada will keep your wardrobe up-to-date with the latest styles from the runway. The shops are on the second level, at the entrance -- a refreshing change for those used to hotel shops stuck in the back of the building. Definitely worth a stop -- if for nothing else than the time-honored tradition of window-shopping! (702) 693-7111 (888) 987-6667
Wynn Esplanade 3131 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 (702) 770-7000 Wynn Las Vegas is one of the Strip's most luxurious hotels, and it offers a shopping area to match. The Wynn Esplanade shops feature some of the most exclusive names in clothing, shoes and accessories. Many of the shops are new to Las Vegas, and some are exclusive to the resort. The Wynn Esplanade offers the first Oscar de la Renta boutique fashion store and the first Jean Paul Gaultier designer store in the nation. Other big-name stores include Dior, Cartier and Chanel. "Sex and the City" fans can get their fix of Manolo Blahniks at the designer's shoe salon. La Flirt offers a selection of beauty products by cosmetic giants such as Bobbi Brown and Stila. For those who like gadgets, Gizmos has everything from digital cameras and flat-screen TVs to iPods. One of Wynn Las Vegas' most extraordinary stores is the Penske/Wynn Ferrari-Maserati showroom. If you hit the big jackpot in the casino, you can drive one of these sleek autos right out of the resort.
